Can I join the NIOG Professional Standards scheme? The scheme is open to all NIOG members working in the field of investigation and enforcement, including investigators, enforcement officers, intelligence staff, support staff and managers, as long as you either have or are working towards a relevant level 4 qualification in the field.
What do I have to do to join? It’s simple, all you have to do is :
- Join up – you must be a NIOG member to be involved in the scheme.
- Create your personal record on the NIOG Professional Standards portal and provide details of your relevant qualification.
- Make sure that you complete 30 hours of relevant Continuous Personal Development each year, and upload details of it to your personal record.
Does my employer have to join me to the scheme? No. The NIOG scheme is personal membership – you can join yourself.
What does it cost? The CPD scheme costs £40 a year. This is to cover the cost of administering the scheme.
What do I get out of it? The main personal benefits are :
- You’ll be a member of a professional body and listed as such on the NIOG website.
- You can use one of the ‘NIOG Approved…’ titles (…Investigator, …Intelligence Officer, …Enforcement Officer &c.)
- You can use the NIOG badge on your communications and professional profile.
